English Sabrage Experience with the Wine Guild of the United Kingdom

,

We were approached at short notice by friends who are members of The Wine Guild of the United Kingdom, because they were planning an English sparkling wine appreciation evening, and thought that adding sabrage to it would make it even more joyful. We (unsurprisingly) agreed, and need little encouragement, so made our way to the crypt under St John’s Waterloo, a majestic church that is also a beautiful venue for events of all sizes.

Chairman Tal Sunderland-Cohen and Head of Experiences Nishma Badiani welcomed everyone, and introduced the wine of the evening: Hindleap 2013 Classic Cuvée from Bluebell Vineyard Estates (you can’t buy the 2013 on their website anymore, but the MV is well worth a try). We wasted no time in opening the bottles in the appropriate manner, then sat down to enjoy the fruits of our labours alongside delicious—and meticulously presented—charcuterie platters.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening that gave us the opportunity to make some new friends, and learn more about the Wine Guild. As you can imagine, we have several very similar common aims, so we wholeheartedly look forward to future partnership opportunities!
